Crises

If you know me, or if you've read my blog, you'll know that I am a passionate person. And when I write things on this blog, I tend to overshare, and the length of the average post can be a bit overwhelming. So, obviously, I can write well. I am a talented writer. I don't feel bad saying this. I have been told time and time again that my writing is above average. I've written compelling application essays for friends that get them accepted into colleges. I've written term papers that my teachers have congratulated me on in front of the entire class. I've had college assignments entered into competitions. I've had professors ask me to use my writing as an example for future students. I've had a job on a campus newspaper. Closing in on me

You know, I try to suppress my feelings. I see people expressing them every day and all I can see is how they just make trouble. I don't like trouble. So I keep my feelings to myself. It's sort of my defense mechanism. If I tell myself I don't care enough, I start to really not care. But lately things have been piling up. I'll be watching a show and see something like poptarts and realize that I miss them, because there's no such thing as poptarts in Austria. Or Oreos. They do have Oreos in Austria, but not how I remember them. They have the snack packs, but I want the big boxes with the rolls of Oreos in them, just because that's how I used to eat them. I miss milk. It seems weird. There's milk everywhere, right? But it doesn't taste the same. I just like it more in America. In America, I could drink glass after glass of milk, but here, I can't even take one sip without cringing. They have light and they have normal milk, and there are no gallons, j...

Family

I don't know why, but I was reading through some random woman's blog just now and she was talking about how her family gets together for the kids' birthdays and all of a sudden, it just struck me how much I miss that about my family. My family, for those of you who don't know, is pretty big. We've got the grandparents. They had four kids. Oldest and only son had five children, plus his wife. My mom is second oldest, has two children and her husband. Her younger sister has a husband and four children, and the youngest has four children and a husband, also. Not to mention the boyfriends and husbands of the grandkids. Or their children. But back to the point. We're a fairly large family and even though we're so big, we all try and get together once a month to celebrate the birthdays together. I miss that, a lot.
